Fusion

RDR Butt, Electro and Saddle Fusion Services

Butt Fusion

Under RDR’s Utility Line Repair and Maintenance division, we perform Butt Fusion services. HDPE pipe is butt fused by pushing prepared pipe ends together with a pre-determined force in order to form a permanent butt fusion joint.

The butt fusion process has six distinct steps that our professionals follow in order to complete the butt fusion process entirely. The steps are: (1) inspection/prep/cleaning, (2) facing, (3) alignment, (4) melting, (5) joining, and (6) holding. After completing the final step and waiting an additional 30 minutes for it to cool and set, the butt fusion process is complete.

Electro Fusion

Under RDR’s Utility Line Repair and Maintenance division, we perform Electro Fusion services. Electro Fusion is a method used in order to join MDPE, HDPE and other plastic pipes by utilizing special fittings that have built-in electric heating elements, which are used in welding the joint together.

The main difference between conventional heat fusion and electrofusion is the method by which the heat is applied. In conventional heat fusion (butt, saddle and socket) joining, a heating tool is used to heat the pipe and fitting surfaces. The electrofusion joint is heated internally, either by a conductor at the interface of the joint or by a conductive polymer. Heat is created as an electric current is applied to the conductive material in the fitting. PE pipe to pipe connections made using the electrofusion process require to use of electrofusion couplings.

RDR has been able to execute an extensive process that has allowed for our company to satisfy our customers. If you are in need of Electro Fusion services, call RDR today!

Saddle Fusion

Under RDR’s Utility Line Repair and Maintenance division, we perform Saddle Fusion services. The Saddle Fusion process is a conventional technique used to join a saddle to the side of a pipe while also simultaneously heating both the external surface of the pipe and the matching surface of the saddle type fitting with concave and convex shaped heating tools until both surfaces reach proper fusion temperature.

The Saddle Fusion service includes just three short steps to allow the fusion process to be completed. The steps are: (1) preparation, (2) heating, and (3) cooling. By following these three steps, our professionals at RDR are able to complete each Saddle Fusion project seamlessly.
